Know by Heart Game Review

“Know by heart” …” is an exercise in accepting losing. It’s an amalgamation of story and music. The real-time gameplay, the atmospheric mini-games and the music create the illusion that one can return to the past. The players feel as if they are getting older and that time is passing by the palms of our hands.

In the game, players are immersed in the tranquility in a typical provincial Russian town, where remnants as well as echoes from the Soviet era can still be seen and heard.

Misha is the protagonist. The main character is stuck in a monotonous job that has no end. But, on a particular morning, he’s stunned when his crush at school returned to the town. Misha gets a glimpse of hope when he is able to get away of the everyday grind to experience a moment of freedom for the first since the time he was a teenager. The story of an old group of childhood friends joining forces is weaved into one brief but highly turbulent episode in the town’s daily lives. They have to travel through memories streets to revive their bond. However, their memories from the past as well as the bonds that bind them together turn into a risk.

Ayrat Zakirov, Ice-Pick Lodge’s CTO, runs this nostalgic endeavor. Events of the game will occur in the Russian province. The main character, Misha, is about to reunite with his childhood group of friends after having spent a lot of gap. They’ll get together with their former classmates, Misha to share old stories and re-discover common ground. However, this joyful reunion is likely to be destroyed through an incident that’s out of their hands.
